Loona has a 3D-ToF (Time of Flight) laser sensor in front of the screen to perceive the environment ahead, obstacles, cliffs, and objects. Compared with the traditional laser, our sensor has incomparable advantages: like it can sense the 3D point cloud signal of the whole area in front of it, but it also encounters some limitations. Currently, Loona has occasional problems with obstacle avoidance and trajectory planning. We are trying our best to improve the experience through algorithms and update it to all users via OTA.

Keep the sensor cleanLoona's sensor is located at the bottom of her screen and should always be kept clean. You can wipe the sensor with a tissue. Meanwhile, do not cover some items (like decorations, etc.) on the sensor.

Limitations of Loona's object recognitionDue to the limitation of the 3D-ToF operating principle, the recognition effect of the Tof sensor on the following types of objects will be decreased:
-
Outdoor sunlight
-
Mirror reflective objects (mirrors, bright reflective table legs, reflective floor, etc.)
-
Transparent objects (glass, fish tank, plastic, etc.)
-
Pure black light absorbing object (such as black blanket, black matte object surface, etc.)

Loona may not recognize obstacles in these modesWhen Loona is on "auto pilot" or in the "follow" mode, the Tof sensor will sense the environment ahead and plan a path for Loona to walk. However, when the App controls Loona or when performing movements such as dancing or voice command in a state of intense action, the function of the ToF sensor will be limited. Therefore, please ensure that Loona is in an open field when these functions are triggered to ensure safety.
